We are the one and only Common GroUUnds Coffeehouse of Lakeland, which is a local venue for concerts, open microphone and great Fair Trade Coffee. We are located at 3140 Troy Avenue at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lakeland. Common GroUUnds Coffee house falls on the third Friday of the month though the dates are liable to change. Our focus is live music. Some nights we will host musicians from around the country and the local area and will offer them the chance to showcase their talents. We seek and promote musicians who through their performances advance environmental, political, and social action. There is nothing better than music with a purpose. We know music and all of the arts can be used as a non-violent weapon to dispose of bigotry and social ignorance. Our music comes in a diverse array from rock, screamo, folk, rap or indie bands.

We have open mic. events we call "Freedom of Speech nights" that gives a voice to the voiceless. The microphone and stage is opened up for everyone to give personal speeches, rants, recite essays, read poetry, play music or however you express your own views. We also play a diverse array of cultural music when the stage is empty so that everybody feels as though they are at home.

We are much more than a local venue, we are a center for social change, environmental cleanliness and multi-religious education and we have a exhilarating time while doing it. So come be a part ofthe local revolution and help us transform our youth into the freethinking individuals we were born to become. It is all for a new hope to bring about a better tomorrow. The time is now, and we only have one lifetime to make a difference so why not enjoy it while we do it!

We serve Fair Trade Coffee and teas and Blue Sky natural sodas as well as a plethora of freshly baked brownies and muffins.
