The purpose of the hUUmanists of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of
Lakeland is to give community for humanists looking for a place with like-minded
individuals.
Humanism is an approach in study, philosophy, or practice that focuses on
human values and concerns.
Secular Humanism espouses reason, ethics, and justice, while specifically
rejecting supernatural and religious dogma as a basis of morality and decisionmaking.
Religious Humanism is an integration of humanist ethical philosophy with
religious rituals and beliefs that center on human needs, interests, and abilities.
We gather at UUCL the first and third Sundays at 2pm to
• discuss applicable topics for today's political, religious, environmental and
ethical issues from the lens of science and reason.
• have entertaining guests come share their insights
• perform small scale experiments to broaden our knowledge
• watch movies
• much, much, more.
If you are a humanist, want to know more about humanism, or just think this
sounds like cool stuff to do, come join us!
